Business Tools
ACEBA curates best practice methods and applications of Circular Economy that are appropriate to and proven within the region. These form the basis for the development and promotion of operational tools and metrics that are appropriate to the ASEAN and East Asian region, relevant to the countries and their policy makers and specific to their leading and emerging business sectors.

Circular Economy: a starter for East Asian businessThis starter is intended as a introductory guide for owners and operators of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Southeast and East Asia. It elaborates on the changing business environment towards circularity, positions circular economy as a responsible business and innovation strategy, and encourages SMEs to get prepared to play their role in the – regional – circular economy transition. |

Unlocking the Circularity Opportunity: guidance to advance circular businessThis implementation guide supports businesses to plan and execute appropriate and ambitious circularity initiatives that advance their business interests while doing good for environment and society. It illustrates how businesses from different sectors, geographies and sizes benefit from Circular Economy and what doing business for Circular Economy entails. Most importantly, it provides an action menu for developing circular solutions through four clusters of activities, respectively: stocktake; ambition; delivery and integration – the SADI Framework.

Circular Solution CanvasThe Circular Solution Canvas was conceptualised as a tool for analysing and scaling Circular Economy impacts, and has been successfully used for ACEBA’s training and capacity building initiatives. The canvas is based on firstly articulating the circular value proposition (the expected contributions to resource circularity, resource efficiency and/or resource substitution for materials, energy and water). Next this is elaborated into an optimized combination of changes in product/services, business activities and value chains, which reflects the circular value creation. Finally, the business model is reviewed and further optimized to increase circularity benefits for business, environment and society, or the circular value capture. The Circular Solution Canvas is being further expanded as part of a circular design methodology for products, business activities and business models.

Circular Business CheckThe Circular Business Check is intended as a self-assessment tool for small and medium enterprises to gauge their level of understanding and engagement with the Circular Economy. It is conceptualised as a three-pronged assessment covering: readiness (awareness and understanding and availability of supportive capacities and connections); maturity (status of implementation of circular economy enabling business activities); and impact (contributions made to sustainable use of natural resources and benefits achieved by company). In addition to a three-pronged score, the Circular Business Check would guide the business to potential follow up activities to advance the business’ circularity transition. The Circular Business Check is currently under pilot testing and refinement and expected to be publicly released in 4th quarter of 2026. DOWNLOAD the Fact Sheet |
