Developing the National Action Plan on Circular Economy in Viet Nam

The work done under the SWITCH-Asia Technical Advisory on Mobilising Business Action on Circular Economy in Southeast Asia, in partnership with ASEAN CSR Network (ACN), was showcased during this forum, entitled “Developing the National Action Plan on Circular Economy in Viet Nam” on 16 November 2023 in Hanoi, Vietnam. Rene Van Berkel, co-convenor of ACEBA, delivered a call for action to business to approach the circular economy with intent and integrity to ensure meaningful contributions towards waste and pollution avoidance and ambitious climate action. In connection with the Forum, the EU SWITCH-Asia team consulted diverse business stakeholders in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to advance principles-based implementation of circular economy for a clean and affluent Vietnam.

Consultations were conducted to discuss existing or emerging, scalable business and industry examples of circular economy action and achievement in Vietnam and to identify elements of business commitment, potential individual and collective action, accountability, advocacy, and knowledge management for the adoption of circular economy, with a view to shape and formalize business commitment to and action for circular economy in Vietnam.
