Knowledge Sharing Session on Circular Economy, Makati Business Club

The Makati Business Club (MBC) held a discussion on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and Circular Economy (CE), particularly on House Bills 8791 and 9791 which aims to adopt a circular economy framework for the Philippines. The MBC supports initiatives that make it easier for the private sector to comply with environmental laws, such as the EPR Act of 2022, and to adopt circular economy models. This session is an initiative under MBC’s Circular Economy Program, which is in partnership with the Embassy of the Netherlands in Manila.

Rene Van Berkel, ACEBA co-convenor, interacted with members of the MBC during the Knowledge Sharing Session. He introduced the principles-based approach to CE, developed in the lead up to the launch of ACEBA. He stressed the need for an ambitious CE approach based on the development and commercialization of circular products and services that use all-natural resources longer, more efficient and circularly, whilst also maximizing the use of renewable materials and energy.
