Brunei Sustainable Economy Forum

This forum, organised by the ASEAN and APEC Business Advisory Councils of Brunei Darussalam in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Economy, discussed how to develop Brunei’s circular economy, and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For Brunei Darussalam, this approach not only helps enhance sustainability but also creates local jobs and encourages innovation in green technologies.
Rene Van Berkel, ACEBA Co-convenor, presented ACEBA at the forum, and elaborated that CE stands for responsible business and innovation towards the sustainable use of all materials, energy, water and other natural resources, to address the common root cause of the triple planetary crisis of climate change, waste and pollution, and loss of biodiversity and nature. This makes good business sense, as reflected by an expanded set of circular economy-relevant business cases from Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
